Welcome to the Lanakila Paddling Club!
The Lanakila Paddling Club (pronounced Lah-nah-kee-lah) are a new and vibrant dragon boating club situated at Palm Beach Currumbin on the Gold Coast, Australia. The name, Lanakila, has the meaning of victory and triumph, and the club aims to compete at the highest level whilst maintaining its integrity and sportsmanship. The club is open to members of all ages- male and female- and promotes unity, perseverance, determination and achievement. The coaching panel works with individuals and crews so everyone can improve as paddlers and reach their personal goals.
The club has achieved unparalleled success in their first season together. The Premier women's crew, the ‘Cubbies’ , qualified for the 7th Club Crew World Championships in Macau 2010 and won a Bronze medal in the Premier women's small boats 500m event. More recently, the premier women have qualified again for the 8th Club Crew World Championships in Hong Kong 2012. All members in the club will be training together and racing hard in the 2011-2012 season to qualify more crews for this competition. There are 5 Australian (past and current) and 16 (current) Queensland representatives in the club.
